The center is staffed by a team of board-certified emergency physicians, as well as approximately 30 specially trained nurses and staff. The Adventist HealthCare Germantown Emergency Center much like the Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center’s Emergency Department. However, it does not have inpatient beds. It possesses advanced technology which closely resembles Shady Grove Medical Center. One example is the hospital’s Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), which provides digital x-ray images, allows doctors at Shady Grove Medical Center to review images from patients at the Germantown Emergency Center. The Adventist HealthCare Germantown Emergency provides the same full-service emergency medical care that patients can receive at a hospital emergency department. These are services are appropriately provided in a convenient location. That location is a stand-alone medical facility which is not far from and just west of I-270 across from the Germantown Town Center on Rt. 118. Patients who need to be admitted are transferred to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center or other area hospitals. State and county officials have worked closely with Shady Grove Medical Center to establish transport protocols for patients who come to the Emergency Center but require inpatient hospital care.
